Welcome

Established in 1982, Chester Netball Club was originally founded to provided social netball opportunities for women, the success of this venture was soon to see the creation and development of a thriving junior netball section.

The Club is fully inclusive and welcomes members with varied and diverse aspirations, be that involvement with grassroots social netball or at an elite performance level. Everyone is welcome at Chester Netball Club and to support our club vision we have teams to suit all abilities which includes regular training and match play.

BUDS

At Chester Buds session we aim to provide a safe, fun and engaging environment for our young netball players. Our philosophy is centred around high levels of activity leading to developing and refining basic netball skills. Our sessions are inclusive and differentiated to allow young players for all abilities to make progress.

U8/9

An U8/9 training session is lively, fun and energetic and seeks to develop the early netball skills that will enable girls to continue developing as they continue along their netball journey. Girls will master the basics of netball, focussing specifically on strong throwing and catching, conquering the concept of “footwork” and learn all about space awareness on the court. They will start to participate in local leagues.

U10

These sessions will see girls continuing to develop their netball skills and are set in an environment of inclusion, fun, participation and enjoyment, supplemented with the introduction of competition as the girls will all have access to match play in local leagues.

U11

A typical training session will include continued development of netball skills, basic tactics and an understanding of the rules and the game. This group will participate in local leagues and will start to experience different levels of competition as they participate in countywide leagues. The sessions will be both competitive and inclusive.

In addition, we operate our own Performance Squad that trains bi weekly and is geared towards Pathway achievement.

Training sessions will be focussed on further developing skills and knowledge and embedding a more detailed understanding of the full game. Challenging competition will be delivered through leagues and matches played across Cheshire and the North West. Players may also be scouted to participate in the Manchester Thunder Junior Development Squads and Satellite programmes.

In addition, we operate a Performance Squad that trains on bi weekly and is geared

towards Pathway achievement.

U13

This is a very important stage in the development of a netball player and the emphasis will be on following and embedding the England Netball programmes of skills development and behaviours as, from this age, players will have access to the England Netball Performance Pathway, so we endeavour to equip the girls to enable them to compete and be successful in franchise, County and Regional trials.

It is always varied and demanding, but importantly, fun too! We aim to prepare players so they can be successful at Franchise’ and County Academy trials enabling them to embark upon a playing journey within the EN pathway.
